Number Four:
3/16/12
1) My arduino has arrived! i Have been doing a lot of testing with the LED system, however i have been having a lot of trouble with the reaction time. Similarly, it doesn’t always act quite as I would expect it too. I will have to do a lot more work on it before it is ready for the art show.
2) I have learned so much about electrical systems. I had no idea how to actually wire circuits before I got this arduino and i was surprised to find it was much easier than I had expected
3) In the next couple weeks i hope to have some tangible result to show for my work on the Arduino.
Number Three:
3/2/12
1) I have now completed two water color pieces. The charcoal pieces are now my main project at the moment. I am quite excited to see how these will turn out.
2) I have learned a lot about how charcoal reacts to different surfaces. I like to blend it a lot, but specifically I found that using an eraser gives it a particularly smooth texture. I have also just learned about Arduinos. Mr. Miller has gotten me quite excited about them, so I have been researching them online.
3) I have just ordered my own arduino and will begin working on a project with it once it arrives.
Number Two:
2/17/12
1) This week I started to finish my water color paintings. After working on my sketchbook with some charcoal, I decided that I would like to make some larger pieces with charcoal. This week I will be doing figure drawings as in the watercolor, however this time around it will be with Charcoal.
2) I am learning about how the contrast of colors play with one another. I quite like the way that blue and red contrast in my first water color painting. They even mix into purple in places which turns out to be quite visually appealing.
3) I am going to begin working on 2 to 3 charcoal pieces for the art show. Then whatever is next to come, nobody knows..
Number One:
2/3/12
1) This week I have been working on the first of two ink pieces. I kept the subject of the current project — human faces — the same, however I have decided to add water color into the mix. The first piece is coming along quite smoothly. The proportions are better than any I have sketched before and the ink looks nice as well.
2) I have learned a lot about the symmetry of the face. The locations and proportions of my pieces look much better than they did in the past. The only challenge I have faced thus far was the left eye of the figure to the right of my first piece. I totally messed it up. To fix it, I just thickened the rims of the figure’s glasses to hide the imperfection. It worked fairly well.
3) My next step is to finish the foreground and follow it up with a very abstract background.
